CDX Links Cambodia Derivatives Market with Indonesia’s

Cambodian Derivatives Exchange (“CDX”) has continued to create another remarkable and proud moment for the whole derivatives industry, linking Cambodia derivatives market with Indonesia derivatives market and highlighting cross-country business opportunities in a summit titled “Indonesia Derivatives Reach International Market”.

This high profile event was held by Mentari Mulia Berjangka on December 05, 2019 in Jakarta, Indonesia, and was attended by Indonesia’s high ranking government officials, professors, industry regulators, derivative brokers, and industry professionals including CDX’s top management with Indonesia-based Cable News Network (“CNN”) providing the event coverage.

CDX’s participation in this summit showcased its initiative to add sparks to Indonesia derivatives market and to broaden the horizon of derivatives trading. It is also one of the company’s missions as a global derivatives ambassador. Prior to this event, CDX had also had collaboration with Indonesia’s Jakarta Futures Exchange through the MOU signing taking place on June 2018 in Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia, with the collaboration scopes including, among others, research and development of unified trading system as well as of settlement clearing system to ensure a trading practice with openness, fairness, and transparency.

“I have been thinking what if Mentari, along with CDX or JFX, could combine efforts together, visiting all 34 provinces in this beautiful Indonesia and promoting our industry like what CDX has been doing in all provinces of Cambodia. How meaningful will that be?  I look forward to standing in an optimistic view to witness Mentari’s business expand to many provinces in Indonesia.  Just thinking about that for a second excites me,” said Mr. Lawrence Kook, Director of CDX.

Besides, on the journey as the global derivatives ambassador, earlier this year CDX looked set to make a splash with prospective business activities in United Arab Emirates, resulted from the company’s MOU signing with Bin Zayed Group, one of Dubai’s influential Royal Family’s businesses. With such opportunities, CDX would welcome the collaboration from its Indonesia’s derivatives partners to further grow together.

“We plan to use our network to expand our scope of derivatives service around some of the Middle East countries such as Baring, Pakistan, Kuwait, and India, to name a few.  This is a big leap for our group because for the past 40 years, we haven’t encountered such opportunity in that part of the world.  We very much look forward to doing business there and if our Indonesia capacity allows, we would be grateful to collaborate and explore this market together,” quoted Mr. Lawrence as saying.

On that special afternoon, Mr. Lawrence Kook also shared the stage with honored professional fellow panelists including Mr. Stephanus Paulus Lumintang, President Director of Jakarta Futures Exchange, H.E. Mr. Sou Socheat, Director General of Securities and Exchange Commission of Cambodia, and Ms. Du Liqun, Professor of Peking University, giving a glimpse of the future of derivatives market and discussing on how to make it even more developed.

A meaningful party followed the summit, ending the day with joy and closer relationship.
