CDX UNDERLINES PROSPECT ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF MYANMAR FINANCIAL MARKET IN A SEMINAR AT YANGON UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS

On March 06, 2020, Cambodian Derivatives Exchange (“CDX”) participated in a seminar under a topic of “Derivatives Market vs Financial System” at Yangon University of Economics, sharing the analysis of the current situation of the global financial market, the development of financial technology, and the wisdom for prospering Myanmar’s to-be-born derivatives industry, while inspiring and giving a huge mentality boost to roughly 100 postgraduates.

Yangon University of Economics is one of the biggest universities in Myanmar, well-known for offering comprehensive Economics and Business programs.

Mr. Thet Htun Oo, Executive Senior Manager of Yangon Stock Exchange (“YSX”), delivered the opening remarks expressing his appreciation for all the guest speakers for sharing their in-depth knowledge and valuable experience. Mr. Thet Htun Oo was highly positive about the future of Myanmar financial market and encouraged the international speakers to share and bridge the gap between practical experience and theoretical knowledge as well as to empower Burmese regarding how to draw benefits from this market.

Along fellow speakers from Japan, United States, Dubai, and Myanmar itself, Mr. Lawrence Kook, Director of CDX, pointed out during the seminar the strengths of Myanmar financial market and believed it would emerge as one of the fastest growing markets in the world.
“I think Myanmar financial market has great potentials, and with a proper nurture and support, it would burst onto the scene not only locally but also internationally,” said Mr. Lawrence Kook.
